Discover the Tamworth Preschool and Children's Center Difference

Our Staff

At the heart of our center is a team of dedicated child care professionals who are passionate about early childhood education. Each teacher brings a warm, nurturing presence and a genuine love for working with young children. They are not only experienced in the classroom but also hold educational credentials in early childhood development and care.

Our staff members are committed to creating a safe, engaging, and supportive environment where every child feels valued and encouraged to grow. They take the time to build strong, trusting relationships with both children and families, fostering a sense of community and connection.

With patience, compassion, and creativity, our teachers guide children through each stagenof development, meeting them where they are and helping them thrive emotionally, socially, and academically. Their commitment to ongoing professional development ensures they stay current with best practices, so your child receives the highest quality of care and education every day.

Our Educational Approach

The Tamworth Preschool and Children's Center (formerly Bearcamp Valley School and Children’s Center) a 501c3 Non-profit organization, has roots that date back to 1963 when the Tamworth Preschool was founded by Nancy Coville. With inspiration and energy backing it, the educational programs developed to include older children, and a full-time childcare program was established in 1980. Tamworth and surrounding communities grabbed hold of the vision, enrollment expanded, and the present Tamworth Preschool and Children's Center building was built on Durrell Road in 1986. Since then, TP&CC has been a strong force within the region, providing child-centered, early education programs and high-quality childcare for Tamworth and surrounding communities. We currently provide care and early education to many families living in our neighboring towns. We have a Kids’ Chef who prepares a hearty breakfast, a child-friendly lunch, and an afternoon snack each day, a teaching staff dedicated to nurturing young children with willing hearts and gentle hands, and an administrative staff who support the children, families, and the teachers who work with them.

Play is often talked about as if it were a relief from serious learning.  But for children, play is serious learning.  Play is really the work of childhood.

~Fred Rogers

Our Philosophy

As an organization, we are fully vested in the education of children and the future of our families.

We recognize each child as an individual, with his or her own rate of growth and development and past experiences that influence personal needs and talents.  We seek to develop a strong moral character in each child by modeling love, patience, kindness, tolerance, cooperation, respectfulness, and empathy.

At Tamworth Preschool and Children's Center we meet each child where they are.  Through both teacher-guided and child-initiated play, necessary life skills are introduced and eventually mastered.  Children will have numerous opportunities to make sense of new concepts and master a variety of skills as they experiment with them and incorporate them in their daily play.

We believe that play is crucial for children as they develop their imagination, self-confidence, creativity, critical-thinking and problem-solving skills. We actively foster a love of learning and encourage children to become independent and inquisitive learners, preparing a foundation for future, more structured education.

We encourage children to play with each other and alone, in an effort to challenge their creativity and social selves, as well as achieve age-appropriate milestones.
